Everyone wants to be Instagram famous. You get the like, the follows, and the little blue check beside your name (means you are verified).
Though no one knows the right ways to get there fast and easy. I really struggled to get my first 30 followers when I first signed up to Instagram. Even my best photos were getting only a few likes.
After a couple months of trail and errors, I begin to understand the rules of Instagram. I got better at posting high-quality pictures and getting more followers. I have more than 800 followers and averaging about 142 likes as of now.
It's not an easy process, and there's no magic formula on how to get more Instagram followers. However, there are ways of improving your Instagram strategy so that people can find and follow you.
1. You need an official name.
Having a more than one “.” or “_” in your name is not official. It’s such an eyesore to have so many random characters in your name, and it’s even more harder to memorize or for other people to recommend your page to their friends.
Your name should be short sweet and clever. Thinking of a creative name will be hard so you must do some brainstorming. It can also be very basic because in some cases it's way easier to remember your name
Perception is very important. When new or potential visitors land on your profile via links, SarahThePhotographer looks more professional and memorable than sa.rah_the_photographer23. When a visitor sees your professional username, they can easily look you up to find more information. This makes you more authentic and engenders greater trust.
2. You need to extend your page to other pages.
Doing hashtags can be helpful, but not everyone searching through hashtags isn’t going to follow you automatically.
Here's what you should do. Stay spamming people with the same content that relates to your page. For examples if you are a makeup tutorial account you should follow a lot of makeup tutorial accounts. And don’t be shy try and make friends and share your interests
However, following people isn’t enough to be popular. You also need to associate with people that you follow. If you simply follow someone and don't care for or comment on any of their posts, you're thought to be a ghost follower. Instagram users despite ghost followers because scam artists utilize this technique to promote their fake profiles.
You'll see signs of improvement when you comment on photos of the people you have followed. That way they'll know you're a genuine individual. Your comment ought to be targeted, meaning that you should leave comments for someone who could potentially become your followers.
So how do you find such people? It's simple! You should simply utilize hashtags to look for users who do the same kind of mediums as you. Do this in the Tags area of Instagram's search functionality.
3. Install a couple of helpful apps.
When you're running your account, you don't know everything that's going on in it. Having some helpful apps could make your growth way more understandable. When someone follows you, you get notification but if you're unfollowed you will never know unless you're very anal-retentive about each follow you got.
If you have an app you can get notification that someone unfollowed you. With said apps you can also find out who you most active followers are and even some stalkers.
There are thousands of excellent photo apps you get download on your phone, and the things you can do with apps are incredible. With that said, the number of photo apps out there is overwhelming, and it's hard to know which apps are worth getting.
My favorite app I use is InstaTrak its fast and it tells you everything you need to know about your account. Ghost followers, active followers, people who comment the most, people who like the most and so on. It can also send you a notification of when someone unfollowed you. And let me tell you, it will come handy along way.
4. Make an Instagram feed that makes people comment "wow”
Make your Instagram profile look amazing. Nobody is going to follow an empty profile or one that has poor, quality images.
If you want to get popular on Instagram, it’s important that you post the kind of photos your followers want to see, which is why I often post Naruto/anime related photos on my account. If you want to get more followers on Instagram, it’s a smart idea to post photos that get more likes.
Don’t expect people who don’t know you to start following you if you use Instagram to share what you eat for dinner and how you hang out with friends. These aren’t the kind of photos any Instagram users would want to share.
Never upload text images or jokes, no matter how cool you think it would look on Instagram. Also, avoid posting random screenshots as most people really don’t like them.
Find a way to direct your viewers to the subject of the photo while capturing a story or emotion. Make sure that your Instagram account is public. Go to your profile, tap the Settings icon at the top right of the screen, then make sure that the “Private Account” slider is turned off. you’ll have a much harder time appealing new followers if your Instagram photos aren’t public.
5. Know the best time to post on Instagram
Later, a visual content marketing website, listed the best times for each day of the week. According to their data, the most “engaged” time on Instagram shifts during the week: On Monday, for instance, 5 p.m. is the worst time to post, and engagement peaks around 7 PM and 10 PM. On Friday, 1 AM and 8 PM are somewhat the sweet spots for your followers unusual as it seems.
Wednesday is the optimal time to post on Instagram. They discovered that 5 AM and 2 PM EST are the ideal times to upload because that is when your followers will be most engaged and pay more attention to you. The worst times to post are 9 AM and 6 PM. Wednesday, apparently, is the best day of the week to post. Posting at 5 PM on Wednesday is the best time to engage people who have jumped on Instagram at the end of the work shift and are procrastinating before they leave for the evening.
6. Engage with Your Instagram Followers
keeping your followers happy and connected is equally important if you want to create a strong relationship with them. In the meantime, you don’t want to post excessively. Sharing multiple photos at once can cause distractions, or can be seem as spamming, since they’ll take up a lot of space in your follower's feed.
Make your photos more intriguing and valuable to your followers by adding a motivating or helpful description. You can ask a question, tell a story of why you took this picture, or add a valuable information that relates to the image.
I don’t recommend posting more than once every six hours. Remember that quality always beats quantity. It’s far better to share only beautiful photos, even if that means posting less often.
If you follow the six steps that I’ve set out in this tutorial, you’ll be well on your way to gaining more genuine followers that really appreciate your photography. Here’s a quick recap:
Overall just have fun as you’re doing it. While you’re on your road to achieve that Instagram famous status, you’re most likely going to make a lot of friends that want to follow your dream. If you’re not having fun it’ll be just a slow stressful crawl to success and nobody wants to go through that.
